Initially dedicated to the production of plantar orthoses, Bi-Op
was founded in 1987 with a special mission: Harness the natural
movements of the body, creating life-like devices that provide
optimal biomechanical correction.
In 1993 Bi-Op enlisted the services of a biomechanical doctor
and a podiatrist to perfect their knowledge and expand their range
of products. A well-known prosthetics specialist from the Montreal
Rehabilitation Centre joined the team in 1997. Since then, the
company has formed strong alliances with several health and post-secondary
institutions as well as various private and public research institutes.
With its unique perspective on the world health stage and the
benefit of an adjoining clinic, Bi-Op has been vested with a profound
knowledge in the field of biomechanics.
Because of the greater role the production of prostheses took
on, in 2000 Bi-Op once again added to its team a well-known prosthetist-orthotist
from Sacre-Coeur Hospital in Montreal and the Marie-Enfant Rehabilitation
Centre of Ste Justine Hospital. In June 2004, a new division
dedicated to the global distribution of superior precast devices
was created.
From its start as a modest plantar orthoses laboratory with just
a few employees to its current role as a major player in the orthopedics
industry, Bi-Op markets its expertise on a global scale.
