  Prostheses
A prosthesis is an artificial device intended to replace a member, an organ or an articulation.

Internal prostheses

In practice orthopedic, the internals prostheses are increasingly current, prostheses of the hip, prostheses of the knee.

The external prostheses

The external prostheses have as an aim the substitution of a cut down member. The concept of orthosis within this framework is reserved for the system supporting a defective member. These two last are also name: orthopedic equipment.

Mammary prosthesis

Mammary prosthesis are used following an ablation of the breast to compensate for the volume and the weight of the breast in order to restore a good harmony between the two breast.

A mammary prosthesis consists of a gel of silicone (sometimes of several layers of silicone gel to obtain the better form and best held) wrapped in a very fine medical polyurethane film.
