  Plantar orthoses or foot orthoses

Our orthoses are a combination of science and art

What are plantar or foot orthoses?

Also referred to as an orthotic, plantar or foot orthoses are a custom-made orthetic insole that is slipped inside the shoes, encompassing whole or part of the plantar surface. Designed with a base and corrective elements specific to the patients’ medical conditions, each orthosis offers support and comfort. It prevents or slow down the onset of joint malformations, and may help decrease some of the side effects like calluses, bunions (hallux valgus), and painful heels. This type of orthosis compensates or corrects hollow, flat and deviated foot abnormalities, keeping the joints in proper alignment.

Molded from a plantar impression, the orthosis will take on the exact shape of the arch and will rebalance the foot. To ensure the highest quality, we manufacture our very own orthoses in our laboratories.

Who wears foot orthoses?

In practice, people of all ages wear foot orthoses for an impairment of the functionality of their foot (feet). People with a variety of foot or lower leg problems wear also orthotics, to address mechanical problems. Anyone suffering from a chronic foot or lower limb condition can benefit from an orthosis to increase their mobility and maintain their independence.

Bi-Op’s tibial, ankle, and foot orthoses are an effective solution for the treatment of many foot and ankle disorders.

Medical orthoses

Medical orthoses are prescription devices, custom-made to suit your individual needs and biomechanics (the way your body moves). By improving muscular and/or articular peformance, they provide immediate comfort, helping to prevent or decrease pain.

Orthoses that reflect you for your special needs

To enjoy the benefits of a custom-made orthosis, you will have to undergo a full medical examination. This examination will take into account your own biomechanics, footwear, lifestyle and occupational factors, such as work posture, repetitive movements, type of floors (rigid or flexible), and number of consecutive hours in a standing or sitting position. For further information, contact your specialist.
    Exclusive orthoses

Foot orthoses are valuable long-term solutions

As a general rule, orthoses provide valuable long-term solutions in the treatment and prevention of corns, callouses and ulceration of afflicted areas. By providing consistent postural control, orthoses help in the rehabilitation of acute and chronic foot conditions such as tendonitis, recurrent ankle sprain and stress fractures.

Total correction and absolute discretion!

A foot orthosis is a valid alternative solution to surgery and medication. Surprisingly, a foot orthosis is nearly as common as the need for new eyeglasses.

Our orthoses fit with most types of footwear, compensating or correcting foot and ankle abnormalities causing pain in the back, hips, legs, knees, ankles, and/or various joints of the legs and feet.

In almost all cases, the bracing helps to rebalance weight-bearing areas of the foot allowing a patient to walk normally without any pain.

Made from a patented material, our orthoses provide optimum biomechanical correction and comfort that you deserve.

Bi-Op Laboratories has organized its plantar orthoses into eight categories. Please browse, discover, and enjoy our website.
