Bi-Op was founded in 1987 with a special mission: master the natural movements of the human body, creating life-like devices that provide optimum biomechanical correction.
Determined to be on the forefront of biomechanical research and to expand its product range, Bi-Op appointed a biomechanical doctor and a podiatrist in 1993. Four years later one of the most reputable orthotist-prosthetist from the Montreal Readaptation Centre (MRC) was assigned. Since then, Bi-Op has also forged strong links with many health care and postsecondary institutions as well as various private and public research institutes. Bi-Op's priveleged relationships on the world health stage, along with the benefit of an adjoining clinic, has allowed Bi-Op to keep on the forefront of biomechanical research and production techniques.
The production of prostheses had become an increasingly important part of Bi-Op’s mission. In 2000 Bi-Op added to its team a second well-known prosthetist-orthotist from Hôpital du Sacré-Cœur de Montréal (HSCM) and the Marie-Enfant Rehabilitation Centre CHU Sainte-Justine. In 2002, the company formed a privileged partnership with Langer, the world’s leading producer of custom-made plantar orthoses. This association, that will continue for six years, will take Bi-Op to new level. In June 2004, a new division dedicated to the global distribution of superior precast devices was created.
From its start as a modest plantar orthoses laboratory to its current role as a major player in the orthopedics industry, Bi-Op markets its expertise on a global scale.
